Household removals were not as commonplace as they are today and the brothers had the foresight to purchase an area of woodland, part of which they developed to form their own homes and gardens. The remainder provided wood products which were sold alongside aggregate as part of their combined haulage and removal business. When a household removal was to be undertaken a canvas 'tilt' was lifted onto one of their flat-bed trucks - the earliest of which was a solid tyred Leyland Peerless.
