The Jeakins family have worked in removals and haulage dating back to the 1890s when G. W. Jeakins set up as a carter in Hoxton. In 1974 D. J. Jeakins bought the company J. A. Coles which was devoted entirely to household removals. Both companies, J. A. Coles and Jeakins Transport, remain fully owned and controlled by the Jeakins family. The modern fleet of 20 vehicles and 10 trailers remain in the traditional red and blue livery, which is very distinctive and recognisable in the industry.
